Judicial independence index (IDEA)

The Judicial Independence Index (IDEA), developed by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), measures the degree to which the judiciary in different countries operates independently from the executive and legislative branches of government as well as other external pressures. This index assesses factors such as the appointment, promotion, and removal processes for judges, the existence of checks and balances, the transparency of judicial decisions, and the overall freedom from political interference.
